Solder Flux

Okai manufactures a variety of fluxes designed for jewelry soldering. In addition to our standard fluxes listed below, we also produce fluxes suitable for specialty applications, including long heating cycles, exotic base metals, extra-mild fluxes, and fluoride free fluxes. Please contact us for more information.

LIQUID FLUX

Blue Magic This general purpose liquid hard soldering flux is ideal for use on most jewelry soldering operations. Because the flux is a liquid, it coats parts easily and completely, and promotes smooth solder flow. For use with gold or silver solders.

PASTE FLUX

Purge KA General purpose white brazing flux for use on gold, silver and base metals with gold solders, silver solders, and copper-phosphorous brazing alloys. Excellent flux activity for superior protection of parts; this flux promotes the maximum flow of the filler metal being used. Water based, and may be thinned to desired consistency. Flux residues can be removed by quenching the soldered parts in water, or by washing parts in warm, soapy water.

Clean-Coat This cream-based firecoat helps prevent firescale when soldering, Clean-Coat is more effective than borax at removing surface oxidation during soldering operations. Clean coat may be painted on to the surface of the parts being soldered, or may be thinned to enable the parts to be dipped into the flux. Residues can be removed with a quench from elevated temperatures, or by washing parts in warm, soapy water.

POWDER FLUX

LA-Flux General-purpose white brazing flux in powder form for hard soldering with gold or silver solders on gold, silver, copper and brass alloys, as well as steel and stainless steel. Powdered flux may be used dry, or mixed with water or alcohol to form a slurry or paste. Flux residues can be removed by quenching the soldered parts in water, or by washing parts in warm, soapy water.

Borax High temperature flux powder that helps prevent oxidation. Not as effective as LA-Flux for soldering, but quite useful as a firecoat when mixed with water or denatured alcohol.

DISPENSABLE FLUX

Okai D Flux This general purpose white brazing flux is dispensable, which gives the jeweler greater control over fluxing and reduces flux usage. For use on gold, silver and base metals with gold solders, silver solders, and copper-phosphorous brazing alloys. Excellent flux activity for superior protection of parts; this flux promotes the maximum flow of the filler metal being used. Flux residues can be removed by quenching the soldered parts in water, or by washing parts in warm, soapy water.
