Copper-Based Alloys |
These filler metals are typically used in industrial applications for joining copper and copper-based alloys. They also work fine on silver and silver-based alloys, however, because they tend to have dull-grey colors when brazed, their suitability for jewelery soldering is limited. Copper-Phosphorous alloys are popular in powdered form for chain packing, and offer low-cost joining solutions for base metal assemblies that may be subsequently plated, or where color is not an issue. Copper-Phosphorous alloys are not suitable for joining iron or nickel containing alloys as they can cause brittleness in the joint area. |
